Keetmanshoop TC to rename nine streets in CBD, Kronlein and Tseiblaagte

The Keetmanshoop Town Council has approved the renaming of nine streets in the Central Business District, Kronlein, as well as Tseiblaagte residential areas. 

The Keetmanshoop Town Council, in a public statement, announced the renaming of  streets including  Fifth Street, First Avenue, Nineteenth Street, Mittel Street, Fourth Street, Windhoek Weg Road, North Street, 12th Street, and Cathedral Street. 

The latter streets had been renamed after religious, political, and business leaders—some departed and others still alive. 

MTC, Keetmanshoop sign MoU

In a bid to revolutionise connectivity services, Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC) and the Keetmanshoop Town Council have formalised a partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding.

The initiative is set to transform the town's service delivery into the digital age, promising a transformative impact on the community.

The MoU encompasses different pillars of enablement for utilities, under which the two entities will work together to make service delivery digital for the residents of Keetmanshoop.

Keetmanshoop Town Council housing waiting list up to 4000

More than 4,000 people are currently on the Keetmanshoop Town Council housing waiting list.

The town's acting CEO, Cathy Boois, revealed this at the pre-allocation of plots in the Kronlein residential area.

Boois says the huge housing backlog has prompted the council's decision to pre-allocate 150 unserviced, unsurveyed, and unplanned plots to landless residents.

Only residents who are on the housing waiting lists are eligible for the pre-allocation of plots.

Backyard squatters at the Oudeline houses will also be prioritised.

Keetmanshoop Town Council delegation visits Kleinmachnow in Germany

A delegation from the Keetmanshoop Town Council, led by Mayor McDonald Hanse, recently visited the town of Kleinmachnow in Germany, on a drive to strengthen relations towards a formal twinning arrangement. 

Mayor McDonald Hanse says the areas of cooperation identified and discussed include renewable energy, social housing, and sanitation.
