The Keetmanshoop Town Council has approved the renaming of nine streets in the Central Business District, Kronlein, as well as Tseiblaagte residential areas. 

The Keetmanshoop Town Council, in a public statement, announced the renaming of  streets including  Fifth Street, First Avenue, Nineteenth Street, Mittel Street, Fourth Street, Windhoek Weg Road, North Street, 12th Street, and Cathedral Street. 

The latter streets had been renamed after religious, political, and business leaders—some departed and others still alive. 

They will be renamed after Dr. Reverend Nicholas Christiaans, Bishop Antonio Chimenelo, Pastor Simon P. Tiboth, Roy Oosthuizen, Hennie Theron, Bertus Louw, Albert Krohne, Jonathan Goliath, and Ingo Klitze. 

The renaming ceremony is scheduled for Thursday.
