The National Disability Council of Namibia's Chief Executive Officer has called on the public to participate in the ongoing discussions around the Persons with Disabilities Bill.

Otjozondjupa Governor James Uerikua wants the farmers' trade unions' books audited for accountability.

Uerikua was speaking at the Namibia National Farmers Union (NNFU) Special Congress at Otjiwarongo.

The governor says the farmers' union books must be audited and open to the public for scrutiny.

A 21-year-old mother took her life after murdering her 5-year-old daughter at the old Ombili informal settlement at Otjiwarongo in the Otjozondjupa Region on Saturday.

Police in the town were alerted to the crime between 16h50 and 17h00.

Five-year-old Otjozondjupa resident Tekla Tumuna, who went missing at the start of January, has still not been found almost four months after her mysterious disappearance.

This was confirmed by the police public relations department.

President Hage Geingob helped kick off the new rural electrification project Kalkfeld settlement in the Otjozondjupa Region on Sunday. 

The peri-urban rural electrification under CENORED, is targeting to connect 100 housing units that were constructed in 2015.

The Roads Authority (RA) will undertake a feasibility study on the condition of the Okahandja-Otjiwarongo road.

According to Sydney Boois, who is the Transportation Executive at the RA, the study is to determine the technical, economic, environmental, and social viability of the B1 road's preservation.
