NamPower inaugurates Auas-Gerus transmission line in Khomas Region

NamPower celebrated the inauguration of the Auas-Gerus 400-kilovolt transmission line near Dordabis in the │Khomas Region. 

This project is part of Nampower's plan to expand its infrastructure and aims to make Namibia energy self-sufficient by 2030.

Dordabis owners to give more land to government for development

Dordabis village is partly owned by the government, with the rest owned privately. 

The population of the village, which is around 3,000 people, is cramped on this land. 

Some of the public services, such as the graveyard, are falling into private land owned by the Kraft family. Some of these services come at a hefty price for some impoverished and unemployed families.

The graveyard at the village has been an issue of contention, particularly its status as being privately owned.  

Barnard couple brings hope to Dordabis community

Retired architect Leon Barnard and his wife, Anika Barnard, spearhead the Standwerf agritourism project in rural Windhoek, Dordabis. 

The initiative aims to revitalise the area, combat unemployment, and restore hope for local youth in Dordabis.

Standwerf boasts a rich history, including the renowned weavery, which dates back to previous decades. 

In its heyday during the 1970s, the weavery provided livelihoods for 20 to 30 individuals. 

Farm Josephine's murder suspect commits suicide

The suspect in a double murder case at Farm Josephine in the Dordabis district of the |Khomas Region has committed suicide.

The Namibian Police traced the suspect in the farm killings, identified as 30-year-old Michael Simaneka Martin, to the Oshikweyo Village of Eheke in the Oshana Region.

A police spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, says the suspect, unfortunately, turned a gun on himself and killed himself on the spot in clear view of the police and some family members.

The stolen Land Cruiser was found a few meters away from his residence.

Children of late Gedrud Rooi say police aware of father's alleged abusive nature

Children of the late Gertrud Rooi say NamPol's Gender-Based Violence Investigation Unit and the police at Dordabis are aware of their father's alleged abusive nature.

The 57-year-old Rooi and her 30-year-old daughter, Goldie Landsberg, were allegedly shot dead on Saturday at Stinkwater by Edward Rooi.

Reporter Emil Seibeb and cameraman Festus Mbendeka visited the family's home this morning, where the late Rooi's children told them of how they grew up in a toxic and violent environment with their father, who now faces murder charges.
