The Roads Authority has launched the Project Control System aimed at improving the planning, monitoring and management of road projects across the country.

The Minister of Works and Transport Veikko Nekundi has appointed interim boards for the Public Assets Management Agency of Namibia (PAMA) and a temporary board for the Namibia Airports Company (NAC).

The appointments are aimed at improving management of public assets and governance.

Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare has called for accountability and improved service delivery at the Government Stores and Government Garage in Windhoek.

Works and Transport Minister Veikko Nekundi has officially launched the Oshakati Town Council traffic law enforcement unit with a call to urgently invest in the technology that will manage and control traffic in the town.

Kunene Governor Vipuakuje Muharukua has welcomed Works and Transport Minister Veikko Nekundi's inspection of ongoing road construction projects in his region, describing the visit as a positive step towards improving connectivity and accelerating development and economic growth.

Works and Transport Minister Veikko Nekundi was in the Kunene Region, tracking the progress of major ongoing road and aviation projects. These include links like the Opuwo-Okanguati, Opuwo-Etanga, and Kaoko Otavi-Opuwo roads, alongside the Oute Road, Oute Bridge, and the Opuwo Aerodrome. 

The Windhoek High Court has dismissed Michael Amushelelo’s bid to stop the installation of speed humps and to have Works and Transport Minister Veikko Nekundi remove them from the Western Bypass. 

Minister of Works and Transport Veikko Nekundi informed the National Assembly that there is currently no proposal before his office to introduce tolling, adding that government is not preparing to implement such a system in Namibia.

The Minister of Works and Transport, Veikko Neukndi, says a memorandum of agreement between the Roads Contractor Company (RCC) and the Roads Authority (RA) is currently being finalised to strengthen the RCC's capacity to operate sustainably.
