The Minister of Works and Transport, Veikko Nekundi, has confirmed that the Walvis Bay weighbridge is operational.

This follows concerns raised by IPC MP Nelson Kalalunga regarding delays in the repairs at the testing pit.

"As a responsible state agency, the Roads Authority, NATIS, has ensured that vehicle testing has taken place in Swakopmund during this period. The following measures have been fully implemented: firstly, vehicles weighing less than 8,500 kilograms, including those involved in river events and abnormal vehicles, continue to be tested in Walvis Bay at the traffic municipality building."
