Subsistence farmers in northern Namibia are capitalizing on the subsidies provided by the government for plowing and the purchase of seeds for their crop fields.

The first rain of the season, which fell in the Kavango East Region over the past few weeks, has given some subsistence farmers hope to start preparing their crop fields.

Some of the farmers have already planted their crops, while others are busy preparing for plowing.
