A dark cloud of grief hangs over the royal house of the |Khomanin, after the murder of the customary heir to the |Khomanin traditional throne.

Armando Gawa!nab fell victim to an armed robbery. He died after a fatal gunshot wound on Monday.


It is a sad moment for Gaos Juliane Gawa!nas and her household.

Her firstborn and heir to the chieftaincy of the |Khomanin Clan died at the hands of armed robbers at a local hotel in Windhoek.

He was an armed response security officer.

Groot Aub residents unhappy with City of Windhoek

Groot Aub residents say they no longer have confidence in the City of Windhoek to deliver services.

They now want to handle their own administration for faster development at the settlement.

Chief Jorro Eiseb of the |Khomanin Traditional Authority, who addressed the Groot Aub community, stated that the incorporation of the settlement into Windhoek defeats the purpose as the municipality hardly provides efficient services.

The |Khomanin Traditional Authority unveiled the tombstone of its late Gaob Josephat Gawa-!Nab over the weekend.

The tombstone was unveiled during the community's annual cultural festival at Farm Baumgartsbrunn.

The |Khomanin gathered at Baumgartsbrunn to celebrate and promote their culture as well as to deliberate on the burning issue of landlessness.

The community stressed that they lack land of their own and are forced to rent and be subject to eviction from one place to the next.

The City of Windhoek has refuted claims of relocating some residents to an area where the |Khomanin Traditional Authority claimed to have several gravesites.

The Authority visited a once-forgotten grave site last week in the Moses ||Gäroeb Constituency.

The grave is that of Ouma Amalia |Hones, who died in 1963.

The |Khomanin Traditional Authority says that |Hones is of royal descent; her grave was discovered in 2020 by city officials during a relocation process before they moved residents from the Havana Four-Way.
