Kongola residents warned to stay vigilant against human trafficking

The Zambezi Regional Head of Immigration, Daisy Musweu, has cautioned residents of Kongola to be more vigilant against human trafficking.

Musweu issued the warning during a community outreach programme by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security aimed at educating the public on issues of human trafficking, gender-based violence, and the dangers of explosive ordinances.

Coster Sililo Mubita appears in court for alleged murder

A 48-year-old resident of Kongola appeared before the Katima Mulilo Magistrate on a charge of murder.

Coster Sililo Mubita was arrested in connection with the murder of Sophia Ngoshi, whose body was found along the Kongola Katima road in February this year.

After his right to legal representation was explained to him, Mubita opted to engage the services of a private lawyer, whom he would pay out of his own pocket.

Kongola resident losses 17 heads of cattle after a lightning struck

A resident of Kongola in the Zambezi Region Lucas Kulandata has lost 17 heads of cattle after they were struck by lightning.

Kulandata said when the clouds were forming, he sensed danger.

After it finished raining, and Kulandata said he called the cattle herder to fill him in on what might have transpired in the forest.

The news was however disappointing because 17 of his 95 cattle were struck by lightning.

The 21-year-old cattle herder was also hit and was rushed to the clinic for pain in one of his legs.

Kulandata said he suffered a huge loss.

Shack Dwellers Federation enters Phase Three of housing project in Zambezi's Kongola

The Shack Dwellers Federation has begun construction of Phase Three of its housing project at Kongola in the Zambezi Region.

Residents have already received materials and begun construction of their houses.

While recognizing the project's progression, many brought attention to the fact that the area lacks water, another challenge is the transportation of materials, with everything brought in from Katima Mulilo and without proper storage space.
