Titus Sheehama, who was arrested when the police intercepted a truck loaded with contraband on Sunday, appeared in the Katima Mulilo Magistrate Court.
Menias Brian Libuto, Police Station Commander, Senior Inspector Muyumbano Manyando said they received a tip-off on Sunday night of a truck travelling towards Kongola from Katima Mulilo with consignments.
The consignment included boxes of alcohol, cigarettes, tobacco, sanitary pads, formula milk and bales of clothes worth N$660,000.
"So we set a mini roadblock before Kongola, where we intercepted the truck. We interviewed the truck driver since he was not putting on a seatbelt; from there, we asked him to search the truck, so during our searching, we found that the truck was full of certain consignments which did not have papers from NAMRA so we decided to take the truck to the police station."
Senior Inspector Manyando said while at the station, one of the drivers attempted to bribe an officer with N$800.
Sheehama, who faces charges of transportation of illicit goods and bribery, was denied bail due to fear that he would abscond; his case was remanded to 16 July for further investigations.
