Senior officers of NamPol's border and infrastructure protection directorate are gathered in Rundu to, among others, look at strategies to combat cross-border crime.

Police in the Zambezi Region intercepted a taxi at the Katima Mulilo Border Post, attempting to smuggle contraband into Namibia from Zambia. 

The Windhoek City Police confiscated a large number of whiskies and packets of cigarettes in Windhoek on Friday morning.

Though the exact value of the items is yet to be established, it is estimated to be in the region of N$100,000.

The Head of the Windhoek Correctional Facility, Oscar Kasuka, has warned against smuggling contraband within the facility, saying it poses threats such as stalking, bullying, and the risk of escape.
