Police in the Zambezi Region intercepted a taxi at the Katima Mulilo Border Post, attempting to smuggle contraband into Namibia from Zambia.
The smugglers had adopted a new tactic—hiding illegal goods inside the vehicle's bonnet. According to Katima Mulilo Station Commander, Chief Inspector Charles Mayumbelo, this is the latest trend in smuggling, but officers are trained to detect such methods.
“Our officers have done a commendable job. Despite Heroes’ Day celebrations, for police, it’s always a working day,” Mayumbelo said. He also warned potential offenders that law enforcement remains vigilant around the clock.
“We are always on duty, and while a thief may evade capture 99 times, eventually, they will be caught,” he added.
The seized contraband included illegal tobacco, tablets, and sweets.
