Over 1000 police cadets graduate

President Nangolo Mbumba has called on the new police constables to be a formidable force that will aggressively defend the country from criminal elements.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the more than 1,000 police cadet constables at Oshakati, Mbumba reiterated the importance of maintaining peace and stability as new force members assume duty. 

The President reminded the graduates to ensure that the foundation laid by the founders of the Namibian Constitution—peace, unity, stability, reconciliation, and rule of law—is intact. 

Pastor allegedly rapes female congregants

Police in the Omusati Region are high on the heels of a local pastor from Okandi Village, in the Etayi Constituency, who is alleged to have raped three of his female congregation members, aged between 17, 19, and 24 years. 

It is alleged that the suspect, who is the pastor and owner of the church that the victims attended, raped the women on separate occasions. On February 9th, he is accused of having raped the 24-year-old; on February 16th, the 17-year-old; and on February 24th, he allegedly raped the 19-year-old woman.

Housebreaking cases increase in Omaheke Region

Police in the Omaheke Region have recorded more cases of housebreaking during the festive season, with zero fatalities reported on public roads due to accidents.

This was shared by the Police Regional Unit Commander for Community Affairs, Inspector Fina Sakayengenga, who said that the police have registered more cases of housebreaking during the festive period in town localities compared to other neighbourhoods in Gobabis.

Community, police relationships critical in maintaining public safety

Omusati Regional Commander of the Namibian Police, Commissioner Ismael Basson, says the relationship between the community and the police is critical in maintaining public safety and effective policing.

Basson held a meeting with the business community in the Omusati Region to discuss safety at their businesses and the importance of them reporting crime or unruly behavior at their premises.
