The burial of Mburumba Kerina in Okahandja could not take place this morning as planned. This follows after the Windhoek High Court ruled in favor of the Ovaherero Traditional Authority (OTA) yesterday, which interdicted the burial of Professor Mburumba at the Ovaherero Burial Shrine which is reserved for the Ovaherero Paramount Chiefs. Speaking to NBC News, the Secretary to the Cabinet Dr. George Simataa said the government is now waiting on the family on the way forward regarding the burial site. Kerina has been accorded a state funeral and it was his wish to be buried at the Ovaherero Burial Shrine.
