Cassinga survivor Ekonia Hashipala recount ordeal of the 1978 massacre

Namibians are preparing for the 40th commemoration of an event that both devastated and strengthened the resolve of its people against the apartheid regime of South Africa. On 4 May 1978, the South African Defence Force attacked a SWAPO base at Cassinga, in southern Angola, killing approximately 600 people, including civilian women and children. Ekonia Hashipala is one of the survivors of that raid.
