Nampol Inspector General Sebastian Ndeitunga has ordered the rearresting of a Chinese businesswoman, who was arrested and released on Thursday afternoon, for allegedly pouring urine on the body and merchandise of a Namibian vendor. While it is still not clear what led to the confrontation that resulted in the assault, Ndeitunga told nbc News that preliminary reports show that the incident took place at Stop and Shop in Okuryangava, Windhoek. The suspect was charged with malicious damage to properties and crimen injuria, and released at the same time. Onlookers have accused the City Police officers of giving preferential treatment to the suspect, whom they say was transported in an unmarked sedan police car, whereas the complainant was transported with a police van. City police Chief Abraham Kanime has, however, defended police action as not preferential treatment but rather "rescuing the suspect from the hands of the angry community who tried to remove her from the police van for mob justice". Ndeitunga says he has now ordered that the Chinese suspect be detained until given bail by the courts.
