The City Police arrested a suspect with stolen goods. Senior superintendent Gerry Shikesho said, the suspect was caught red handed in the Otjomuise residential area. Two other suspects whose place of residence are known to the police managed to flee the scene. The suspects, Shikesho said, occasionally drive around in taxis to observe vulnerable houses, before they break in. They were arrested with two flat screen television sets, a laptop, blankets and clothes with an unknown value. Shikesho, emphasised that although a strategy is in place to curb such crimes, he however, cautioned house owners to avoid leaving properties unattended, specifically when leaving for long hours. "These guys have resorted to a new method of hiring taxis during the day and they will roam around the street to check if there are any movements of a person in a house. If there is no movements they break in with housebreaking instruments. It is therefore important that during the day, especially when people have gone to work, there must be somebody," said Shikesho.
