Civic training for NYS' 12th intake postponed

The National Youth Service’s (NYS) civic training for the 12th intake of successful applicants has been put on hold until further notice. In a statement issued on Wednesday, NYS Acting Commissioner Monika Weyulu informed all successful applicants for the 12th civic training intake who were advised to report to the Rietfontein Training Centre from 8 to 10 January 2021, that the call-up has been deferred until further notice. Weyulu said the decision was informed by the current upsurge in COVID-19 cases countrywide and to further comply with the prevailing national COVID-19 regulations. “The successful recruits will be informed in due course when they will be required to report for the civic training,” the statement read. The National Youth Service offers a three-phase youth development programme including “civic training, instilling discipline and encouraging patriotism and a sense of civic responsibility and loyalty to the country.” -NAMPA
