Stigma can be a major barrier to the participation of people with disabilities, as they may be denied opportunities such as employment due to false assumptions or stereotypes about disabilities. A Community Liaison Officer in the Kalahari Constituency, Nguruma Katjiuanjo, says it is therefore important to eliminate stigma by raising awareness and enforcing existing laws and policies in promoting the rights of Persons with Disabilities.
