COVID-19 UPDATE | Namibia recorded 1 649 new cases and 27 deaths on Friday

Namibia recorded a record number of COVID - 19 cases at 1 649 yesterday with 27 deaths. Windhoek has the most cases at 785 representing 48% of the total positive cases. Swakopmund is second with 190 and Oshakati with 163. Rundu which lately was showing high number of infections has now returned to single digit cases of nine. Rehoboth repents the highest number of deaths at nine from the 27 reported followed by Windhoek on eight. Yesterday's recorded deaths occurred between 7-17 June. All the 24 of those who died were not vaccinated and the remaining three could not be determined at the time that they were inoculated. Namibia has now passed the 100 thousand mark of vaccinations with one thousand 651 people fully vaccinated with two doses. The total number of active cases are 11 646 with 478 hospitalised and 81 in ICU.
