Swapo Party councillor at the City of Windhoek, Austin Kwenani, has argued against the motion proposed by the City of Windhoek's Department of Electricity to withdraw the provision of electricity to informal settlements that were initially identified to be electrified as per the city's five-year Electricity Plan. The city's Department of Electricity argues that residents in the initially identified areas are not settled as per the approved township layout. The initially identified areas are Otjomuise Extension 8 in the Khomasdal Constituency and Okuryangava Extension 8 in the Tobias Hainyeko Constituency.
