Farmers urged to report crop damages by elephants

The Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism has urged farmers to report damages caused by elephants to their crop farms The ministry's chief spokesperson, Romeo Muyunda said they assist farmers when cases are reported to the ministry. Recently, approximately 20 elephants destroyed gardens at farm |Auros situated about 29 kilometres from Khorixas in Kunene south. He added that only farmers with gardens of more than 10 hectares are assisted either with funds or equipment for rebuilding purposes. The ministry does not compensate for backyard gardens.
