Five die in accident near Rehoboth

Five people died and two escaped with serious injuries when a Land Rover crashed into a barricade in the late hours of Saturday, 20 March at Bahnhof Station, near Rehoboth. According to the witness, the vehicle carrying seven passengers drove at a high speed from Rehoboth before hitting the barricade and burst into flames. Two passengers, Charles Shivela and Raquel Diergaardt managed to escape before the fire enveloped the car burning the other five beyond recognition. Both Shivela and Diergaardt have been admitted to the St Mary’s Hospital at Rehoboth. The five deceased include three women and two men. The bodies were taken by the Windhoek Police for identification and the relatives are yet to be traced.
