Former special advisor to start serving his ten-year prison

A former special advisor will have to start serving his ten-year prison term after the Supreme Court has washed its hands off his rape case. Justice Elton Hoff has set aside Vincent Likoro's permission to appeal to the Supreme Court and struck his appeal of the roll. Hoff says Likoro appealed on the back of mistakes in the High Court's handling of his appeal. He says Judges Christie Liebenberg and Dina Usiku had refused Likoro permission to appeal his conviction and sentence in December 2017 before Judges Usiku and Johanna Salionga granted him permission to appeal. But he says the latter judges did not set aside the prior order. He has found with Justices Hosea Angula and Baaitse Nkambinde agreeing that this left two-conflicting High Court orders. Justice Hoff has set aside the Supreme Court's involvement in Likoro's case and struck it from the roll. This means Likoro will now start serving his 18th of January 2016 conviction for raping a colleague at Katima Mulilo. Report: Rhyn Tjituka #NBCNews #nbcDSTV282 #nbcdigitalnews
