The Ministry of Mines and Energy has announced that diesel and petrol prices will remain unchanged for January. The ministry said the decision to keep the movement of pump prices unchanged was taken because January is ploughing season and diesel is one of the petroleum products largely used by the agricultural sector. In addition, the Ministry says, the economy is still limping in the COVID-19 climate, therefore, Government thought it wise to lighten the burden on consumers. In a statement, the ministry says, there has been an increase in the international price of refined petroleum products, from US$44,12 in November to US$51,82 per barrel last month. Coastal prices of N$11,58 for a litre of diesel and N$11,65 for a litre of petrol will be maintained this month.
