A 19-year-old Grade 9 learner at Karundu Junior Secondary School at Otjiwarongo allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself on Friday morning. The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) acting Otjozondjupa Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator, Chief Inspector Fillemon Haikali on Monday said the deceased was identified by relatives on Friday as Matheus Alweendo. “His lifeless body was found hanging from the roof of his sleeping room and an electrical wire cable was found intact around his neck when the police arrived at the scene,” said Haikali. Alweendo did not leave behind a suicide note and the motive behind his alleged suicide is still not known, said the police officer. In another alleged suicide at Otjituuo on Saturday, a 50-year-old man is also believed to have committed suicide by hanging himself with a wire inside his bedroom, said Haikali.
