Zambians celebrated Kenneth Kaunda Day, a public holiday honouring the Founding President, who would have turned 102 on Tuesday.
Various activities took place in the capital, Lusaka. The day began with a five-kilometre marathon, followed by a church service.
President Hakainde Hichilema was represented by Vice President Mutale Ng'andu.
A football match pitted Chipolopolo legends from Afcon 2012 against their musical counterparts.
Kaunda was born on 28 April 1924 and died on 17 June 2021. He served as Zambia's president from 1964 to 1991. During his tenure, he was credited with aiding the liberation of many African countries.
