INTERVIEW | Inspector General Sebastian Ndeitunga on arrests of suspects crossing the border

Namibian Police's Inspector General Sebastian Ndeitunga has confirmed the arrests of suspects, including a police officer, who allegedly assisted a suspect into illegally crossing into Namibia from South Africa across the Orange River a few days ago. Ndeitunga informed NBC News during a telephonic interview today that the suspects, who are still in quarantine, will be charged for contravening sections of the Immigration Control Act and provisions of the state of emergency once released. Ndeitunga could also not confirm or deny reports circulating on social media that the suspect has tested positive for COVID-19, but only added that, his best trusted law enforcement officers who arrested the suspect, are under mandatory quarantine as a precautionary measure.
