The National Democratic Party says the November Regional Councils and Local Authority Elections indicated areas of strength and opportunities for NDP.

President Martin Lukato, was speaking at a conference aimed at reflecting on the elections.

"The turnout was not good; it was very low. It does not correspond with voters' registered numbers. That's a great disappointment from the NDP. Young people, the youth, did not vote in big numbers, and it is a big concern that ECN must address this issue with immediate effect."

He further noted that the high number of spoilt ballots was a cause for concern.

"More than 5000 spoilt votes were recorded countrywide. NDP would like to suggest that ECN must consider and take the issue of civic education very seriously. In order to solve this problem of voters' empathy and spoilt ballots."

The party also introduced its leadership, with Tembwe Benjamin appointed as the National Executive Director, Vincent Katusi as the National Mobiliser and Recruiter, and Kabende Sitali as the National Director of Elections.
