Justice Minister, Yvonne Dausab has tabled a bill in the National Assembly (NA) seeking to amend some provisions of the Combating of the Domestic Violence Act. Dausab noted that despite the existence of the law in its current form, acts of domestic violence continue to occur, hence the need to improve the law and close existing gaps. The re-tabled amendments, Dausab says, aim to make about six changes to the law in order to strengthen the combating of the scourge. The proposed amendments will among others give more roles to the child's caretaker, strengthen the relationship between such caretaker and the child and further strengthen the provisions of protection orders.
