Kapena Tjombonde appointed NIP CEO

Kapena Tjombonde has been appointed as the new chief executive officer (CEO) of the Namibia Institute of Pathology (NIP), effective 1 February 2021. Tjombonde, who is currently employed at the Business and Intellectual Property Authority (BIPA) has over seven years of experience at executive management level including in the chief corporate affairs role at MVA Fund. She currently serves as a member of the Council of the University of Namibia. Tjombonde holds, among others, a masters degree in business and law, a bachelor of laws and a diploma in nursing. The NIP's board says Tjombonde, through her involvements in various leadership roles, has gained insights and skills in strategic leadership and stakeholders engagement which will enable her to lead the institute to greater heights. Dr David Uirab had been acting in the position since September 2019, seconded by the Ministry of Health and Social Services. The board thanked Dr Uirab for leading the NIP team with dedication in confronting numerous challenges including those of Coronavirus pandemic.
