Koes residents hope for improved services

The residents of Koes in the Keetmanshoop Rural Constituency of the //Kharas Region are gearing up for the re-run of the local authority election on Friday. The election re-run comes after last year's election was nullified because of wrong election materials dispatched to polling stations there. The residents told NBC News that the incoming councillors should bring them the needed service to improve their living conditions. They want a better road network, more housing and job opportunities. They also want their combined school to be elevated to a full secondary school to allow their children to complete high school there. Koes is the centre of a commercial farming community, which are the main contributors to its economic activities. High unemployment is the order of the day with most residents working on nearby commercial farms and a local tuckshop. About 1 200 eligible voters are registered to participate in the election tomorrow
