Lawyer Patrick Kauta has been appointed the patron of the JP Karuaihe Trust Fund.
The Fund says Kauta was suitable in following the footprints and continuing the legacy of its founding patron, the late Founding President Sam Nujoma.
The trust fund was created to honour the legacy of the late Judge JP Fonnie Karuaihe, who was the first Black Namibian to open a law firm.
Speaking at the announcement of the new patron, Erongo Governor Nathalia |Goagoses said supporting foundations such as the JP Karuaihe Foundation is an important investment in ensuring equality, justice and a better future.
"This is where institutions like the J.P. Karoe Foundation play a critical role. Therefore, every contribution made to this foundation is not merely a financial donation. It is an investment in justice, in equality, and in the long-term socioeconomic stability of our motherland, Namibia. When you support a student, you are not only changing one life, you are indeed strengthening the rule of law, enhancing governance, and building a more equitable society."
Kauta said he will take on his role with full dedication and responsibility and continue the foundation's mission to support and guide law students to success.
"The foundation has uplifted women in law, with more than half of its early beneficiaries being female, while extending opportunities across borders through support for tertiary legal education in institutions both within Namibia and South Africa. In every stride, the foundation continues to transform potential into purpose and ambition into enduring impact. This is a vision I have profoundly supported for over the past 20 years, and one I remain deeply committed to advancing in my capacity as patron."
