The Director of the Legal Assistance Centre (LAC), Toni Hancox has warned that tribal remarks offence is serious, in terms of the Racial Discrimination Prohibition Act, and could carry a heavy sentence. She said that although the Racial Discrimination Prohibition Act is in place. this offence could carry a fine of up to N$100 000 and that the process can be lengthy which could cause frustration to those affected.
