Several speakers at the 50th anniversary of the death of Chief Hosea Kutako at Okahandja hailed him as a true leader, who fought against the German colonial occupation and say his legacy should, therefore, be respected. Those who addressed the audience included Nama traditional chiefs Edward Afrikaner and PSM Kooper. They all paid tribute to chief Kutako, for having stood firm, inspired many to join the liberation struggle and had the interest of all Namibians at heart. Chief Kutako chose to be buried in the area close to Nama leader Jan Jonker Afrikaner.
