A 46-year-old man was trampled to death by an elephant at Okatha-Kiikombo village in the Tsandi Constituency. According to eyewitnesses, the deceased, alongside his wife and daughter were trying to chase a herd of elephants away from their mahangu field. When the elephants finally left their field, the family again attempted to drive them further into the bushes and during this process, one elephant allegedly emerged from behind and attacked the man killing him instantly. His wife and daughter managed to escape the attack. Attempts by family and the community to locate the deceased's remains on Saturday night proved futile. The body was only discovered Sunday morning after an extensive search. The deceased has been identified as Abner Petrus and his next of kin have been informed. Police investigations in the matter continue.
