Medical intern doctor Noa granted bail

Medical intern doctor Dennis Noa, was granted bail today in the Windhoek Magistrate's Court in Katututra, at N$10 000. The 26-year old spent the last 3 months in custody, after being accused of raping an 18-year-old patient, at the Katutura Intermediate Hospital. Magistrate Esme Molefe, granted bail on condition that the accused surrender his passport, does not leave the district of Windhoek and does not interfere with ongoing investigations. Noa's defence argued that medical evidence does not incriminate the intern doctor, nor does it show that the patient had been raped. Public Prosecutor Bernadine Bertolini, had opposed the granting of bail, arguing the patient had injuries consistent with sexual assault. The matter is postponed until 30 September 2021.
