Midwives, or health professionals trained to support and care for women during pregnancy, labour and birth play a critical role in responding to public health emergencies like COVID-19. This was said by the chairperson of the Independent Midwives Association of Namibia, Hilma Shikwambi as the association marks the International Day of the Midwife.
