Milton Nkosi says journalists should bring their sense of community to reporting

Award winning South African journalist Milton Nkosi says journalists should bring their humanity or sense of community to their reporting. The former BBC South Africa correspondent says it is of utmost importance for journalists to continuously learn and improve their reporting and grasp of media ethics. He says reporting should always be done with passion and journalists need to strive for accountability. Nkhosi was a guest speaker at a public lecture on reporting and media ethics held at the Namibia University of Science and Technology. The lecture explored Media Ethics and Press Freedom as well as ways to support access to information by ensuring that relevant officials provide the right information. It further assessed where Namibian journalism is. The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology organised the lecture in collaboration with the Editor's Forum of Namibia. Namibia's media industry comprises two-television stations, 13-newspapers, 25-radio stations and numerous online magazines and publications.
