N$500 million reserved for first four successful green hydrogen projects

N$500 million has been reserved for the first four successful green hydrogen projects, which are the Daure agriculture project, Namport applications project, Cleanergy Project, as well as TransNamib logistics project. The projects cut across the transport, refuelling, as well as agriculture sectors and, will entail decarbonizing of different port facilities at Namport, which will be the first of its kind in Africa. Green Hydrogen Commissioner James Mnyupe explained that the four projects in the Erongo Region are already successful and could kick start the second hub of the green hydrogen strategy for Namibia. He says the country has created an environment for the private sector to invest and explore green hydrogen possibilities and grow the economy. Dr. Hans Dieter Hermes of Cleanergy Namibia says the project plans to build the first ever green hydrogen production plant in Namibia as well as a green hydrogen service station in Walvis Bay.
