The Namibia Food and Allied Worker's Union (NAFAU) inaugurated its building at Katima Mulilo in the Zambezi Region. Speaking at the occasion, NAFAU president said the union continues to ensure that workers' rights are recognised by all employers especially those exploiting workers while enriching themselves. Wigbert Karupu called on all workers to unite to stop abuse at the workplace. “They are still taken for granted and paid peanuts. As unionists, we want all Namibian workers to earn salaries as well as being treated well and with respect. And as NAFAU, we will fight for better living wages and conditions of the workers under our scope,” he said. Also speaking at the occasion was a board member of NAFAU Investment Holdings, who stressed that service delivery is key to economic development hence a decision to construct an office complex. “We start from the corner and we go inland until we have offices in all 14 regions of our country. The resources of the workers must be distributed appropriately and equitably in the interest of all,” said Beauty Wilhelm. “The unions have been striving towards an economy for all Namibians and fight against inequality, discrimination, retrenchment and unfair dismissals, low salaries and all adverse treatment against Namibian workers,” said Councillor of the Sibbinda Constituency, Ignatius Chunga.
