Namibia and Ghana signed a general cooperation framework agreement on Thursday which aims to promote bilateral trade in line with strengthening trade relations between the two countries. In a statement availed to the media, Executive Director in the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation, Penda Naanda, said the ministry is facilitating a trade mission for a Meat Corporation of Namibia (Meatco) delegation to visit Accra, Ghana from 19 to 22 April 2021. “Namibia and Ghana's bilateral relations continue to grow from strength to strength and are based on the premise that the two countries will become stronger and prosperous through combined efforts to address common challenges and take advantage of shared opportunities for mutual benefit,” said Naanda. He said with the assistance of the High Commission of Namibia in Accra, the Meatco delegation will engage major distributors and retailers of meat products in Ghana, who have shown keen interest in Namibian meat and meat products. “Namibia is world-renowned for its export of beef and related products, while Ghana is a major meat importer. Namibia and Ghana complement each other in various economic aspects that could be beneficial for the Namibian private sector,” Naanda stated. He added that the ministry, through its active economic diplomacy, will continue to facilitate trade missions and assist Namibian businesses to take full advantage of the African Continental Free Trade Area.
