Minister of Health and Social Services Dr Kalumbi Shangula on Tuesday announced that the country has recorded 564 new COVID-19 confirmed cases and two deaths. Shangula said there is a worrisome surge in the COVID-19 death toll with 31 deaths being reported in the past two weeks alone. He said for the past week Namibia has also recorded an average of 460 confirmed cases per day. The minister reported that the new 564 cases recorded on Tuesday were identified from 2 238 test results received from the laboratories in the last 24 hours of which 315 are female and 249 male between the ages of 13 days and 88 years. The minister reported 466 new recoveries, bringing recoveries to 18 743. As of Tuesday afternoon, the total number of active cases stood at 3 910 and 195 deaths. -NAMPA
