The Namibian presidency has expressed its condolences to the people of Guyana on the passing of their foreign minister, Ambassador Rashleigh Jackson. The Presidency described Jackson as a long-standing friend of the Namibian struggle for independence. The Presidency says the people of Guyana have lost an outstanding son and a diplomat par excellence, and that Jackson, as permanent representative of Guyana to the United Nations, was a pivotal advocate of Namibia's cause for independence. It says Ambassador Jackson will be remembered as a man of strong convictions who remained steadfast in his commitment to the freedom of the people of Southern Africa, a legacy of freedom for the oppressed people of this region which shall forever remain etched in our memory.
