Namibians safe in Durban- MIRCO

The Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation (MIRCO), says it is not aware of any Namibian affected by the floods in the KwaZulu-Natal Province, South Africa. More than 440 people have died, while 63 remain missing, nearly 4,000 homes were destroyed and more than 8,000 were damaged, most in the coastal city of Durban and its surrounding areas. Officials described the floods as some of the worst to ever hit the province. Counsellor at the Namibian High Commission in South African, Vasco Sampofu says the embassy has reached out to those Namibians living in the province and they all reported to be safe. However, there are people who enter the country without informing the embassy and they are requested to get in contact should they need assistance. The numbers to contact are: Vasco Samupofu at +27 72062 3937 or Lorraine Bilhawer at +27 665351995
