The National Assembly (NA) will resume on 26 May 2020 and not on Tuesday as indicated earlier. In a statement, NA spokesperson, David Nahogandja said the postponement is necessitated by a request by the Minister of Finance that the budget tabling be postponed to 26 May 2020. According to the statement, the announcement was made by the Speaker, Professor Peter Katjavivi. Parliament sittings were suspended on 25 March 2020 during the first stage of the State of Emergency implemented to curb the spread of COVID-19. Earlier, Nahogandja said the usual bench that takes two Members of Parliament (MPs) will now only accommodate one MP and there will only be 49 MPs or less in the chamber, with the number including both the sitting 26 and the voting 49 quorum.
