President Hage Geingob briefed the nation this afternoon on new COVID-19 regulations. BAR HOURS EXTENDED | Sale of alcohol by shebeens, bars and nightclubs shall be extended to midnight. REGISTERS OUT | Shopping outlets and businesses will no longer be required to keep registers of persons visiting their premises. TESTING | Swabbing and testing for COVID-19 will only be conducted on human remains of persons who had symptoms consistent with COVID-19 or were in direct contact with confirmed COVID-19 cases prior to death. PUBLIC GATHERINGS | Public gatherings will remain with the limit of a maximum of 200 people. TRAVELLERS | A 72-hour negative test for non-Namibian travellers is required. Visitors with tests older than 72 hours will be placed under supervised quarantine at own cost. RETURNING NAMIBIANS | Namibian citizens or holders of Namibian permanent residence without a 72-hour negative test will be swabbed upon arrival and quarantined. Namibians will be allowed to self isolate at home or at a quarantine facility.
