Regional Representative of the Caprivi Aids Action says the number of orphans and vulnerable children on their feeding scheme has doubled since the outbreak of COVID-19. Jane Wachila says the two-feeding schemes in the Zambezi Region each feed up to 130 children when they should be feeding 90 children per day. Caprivi Aids Action operates three-times a week at the Butterfly Informal settlement and Liselo village, a few meters outside the town of Katima Mulilo. Volunteers from the two-communities cook meals and divide the food in smaller portions to feed all the children. Wachila now urges the business fraternity in the region to support the feeding schemes. She has further expressed gratitude to the owners of the local Kamunu Supermarket, who have been supporting the programme since 2004. Wachila stresses that they appreciate the World Health Organization, World Food Programme, UNAIDS and the Stephen Lewis Foundation's continued assistance towards the programme.
