The Governor of the Otjozondjupa Region has encouraged all residents in the region to take control of their own destiny by re-organizing themselves and becoming united. Otto Ipinge says the region has abundant natural resources and should not find it difficult to improve people's lives through various sectors, once the focus is on unity of purpose. He was speaking at a Gala dinner on Friday, organised by his office. The event raised over 900 000 dollars in pledges which would be used to renovate the Okakarara School hall which burnt down before independence. Ipinge called on inhabitants to bury their differences and work hard to develop themselves under the prevailing peace and stability in Namibia. On his part, Education Director Simon Tsuseb welcomed the gala dinner initiative, saying it was important for people in the region to stand together and mobilize resources. Tsuseb said this would supplement government efforts to realize the national goals of education for all in Namibia. He said the education sector alone with its limited resources would not address the ever-increasing demand and concerted efforts were needed to achieve set objectives.
