Alex Kaputu, a man who has left an indelible mark on the contribution, preservation and advancement of particularly the OvaHerero cultural norms and beliefs, died early this morning, aged 68. Kaputu, who highlighted the various aspects of cultural heritage and the need to preserve culture for future generations, gained popularity and established himself as a walking library and encyclopedia, during his decades-long career as an announcer at the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation.
